With 3,000+ customers per week through the door and 70 staff to manage the company needed a powerful, but easy to use till system, and were impressed when they saw the Easitill system in operation at other Garden Centres in the UK. “We needed a dependable system that could
accommodate needs such as price embedded barcodes whilst minimising training requirements for staff and allowing them to move between departments quickly as needs arise”, said Brown. “Easitill came highly recommended and impressed us with their willingness to listen and the speed at which they provided an economic solution which met our specific needs”, he continued. At present the system comprises eight checkouts. All have touch screen, keyboard, barcode scanning, cash handling and card payment facilities, those in the fresh produce department also have integrated weighting scales. To handle table orders in the restaurant Easitill have developed and deployed a totally new hospitality module which now contributes significantly to the operation’s efficiency.  Rob Gardner, Easitill MD, said “These days most EPoS vendors sell re-badged versions of other developer’s software making it difficult for them to respond to specific customer needs. The growing trend toward outsourcing system of support can also contribute to delays at critical selling times”. He continued, “With in-house customer support and software development teams our users can be certain of a second to none experience from a family operated business which has 20+ years’ industry experience. Although we don’t offer totally bespoke our system has many application parameters which can be set to meet individual customers requirements using a standard software package and this is what we did for Beckworth. Thus the weighing scales and price embedded barcodes had been developed much earlier, but for the Beckworth Restaurant we did a totally new system addition to our pre-existing touch screen software.”

The Barn Garden Centres

The Barn is an independently owned garden centre which was founded in the late 70’s as a gardening club and has grown into a large modern garden centre on the outskirts of Peterborough. It has a reputation for offering great quality plants, together with an extensive range of gardening products, furniture, houseplants and gifts.
Peterborough is the largest garden centre with an extensive plant area houses a fantastic selection of shrubs, trees and garden plants. The garden centre shop offers a massive selection of gardening products, furniture & bbq’s, hard landscaping, houseplants and gifts. The Barn Peterborough also has an aquatics department stocking a full range of aquatic products as well as coldwater, tropical and pond fish.The Centre includes an attractive coffee shop known as the Coffee Barn, and is bright and airy serving a range of hot drinks and tasty snacks, perfect for enjoying a coffee, a slice of cake or a light lunch.
April 2009 saw the opening of their second centre in Oundle. Situated near Barnwell Country Park, the Barn at Oundle opened on the former “Growing Garden” garden centre site and has been lovingly restored to former glories. At Oundle you will find a well stocked plant area containing a great range of seasonal plants, trees, shrubs, herbaceous and alpine plants.Inside there is a comprehensive range of gardening products, furniture, houseplants and gifts.
To run this impressive outfit The Barn’s owner Mr Paul Wilson needed a system which could run his centre efficiently and effectively with a range of facilities to help him with the day to day running. The Barn has been a customer of Easitill since 2003.

Waterperry Gardens

Award winning Waterperry Gardens based in Oxfordshire has a national reputation that dates back to the 1930’s when it was run as a Ladies Horticultural College up until 1971, when it became open to visitors. Today it has 1,000 of visitors every year attending courses on everything from weaving through to Plantsmanship as well as visiting the world-renowned site.
To help to grow the business Easitill installed their Labelling system (in conjunction with Floralabel Label media) and EPoS system supporting the fact that most of the plants sold in the plant centre are propagated in the Waterperry Nursery from the nursery beds within the Gardens, which act as a living catalogue for them. As the nursery is multi site the EPoS system runs fluidly across the 5 tills and web-stations across the Waterperry site from the plant centre through to the retail shop.
The experienced nursery staff also have to ensure that the plants are high quality, hardy and reliable. The Easitill system reinforces the information and images that can be loaded on to the various label templates encouraging strong sales across the whole Waterperry site. Most of the plants you see in the Gardens are sold in the Plant Centre, enabling you to recreate your own little piece of Waterperry at home.
Waterperry are pleased that they can brand most of the plants “British Grown” and that they carry a 3 year guarantee, all of which can be run via the Easitill Labelling system as and when they generate plant stock. Waterperry are also conscious that all their gardening activities are as environmentally friendly as they can be and do not incur wastage. By using Easitill’s system they have “on–demand” labelling for the precise amount that they require for that particular plant or stock range future-proofing the Nursery business for some years to come.
